Gone are the days where McDonalds was the only name that would come up, and now there’s a range of different kids on the block. With more options to choose from, it also means you’ll need to be particularly careful in choosing.

You should know that just because some people manage to get a certain level of profit doesn’t mean you’ll be able to. 

Generally speaking, the numbers presented represent the best numbers myself and my team have been able to find. 

In general, the typical Crumbl franchise owner salary or profit ranges from $253,159 to $357,512 per year. Howeever, as you can see, you can end up earning millions if you are able to secure multiple units for this franchise.

Learning about the Crumbl franchise owner salary or profit is a bit more complex than just stating a number. The profit will vary depending on a number of things, but I typically say that it tends to be about reasonable to expect a 15% profit margin with a business like this.

What that means is that if you want to make $150,000 profit with a Crumbl franchise, you’ll need to generate about $1,000,000 in yearly sales. As a consequence, $2,000,000 in sales would equate to $300,000 in profit. 

Is it fair to assume that’s the case for your location? Not necessarily.

You could earn more, or you could earn less. How well you’re managing the location dictates the profits. To proceed, let’s start taking a look at some of the numbers. 

Franchise fees & costs

This is all information you can also find in Crumbl’s FDD (financial disclosure document), and if you’re in the process of talking with the company, now’s a good time to ask for this document. 

Needless to say, these numbers may change over time, but they’re required to reflect the situation of franchisees. They’ll also vary considerably with different business models, where you’ll see Anytime Fitness’ (I don’t personally recommend getting one of their locations) numbers looking very different. 

This year, the current franchise fee for Crumbl Cookies is $50,000 per unit opened. In comparison, the overall cost to open a Crumbl Cookies franchise location ranges between $460,166 and $1,266,333. 

Again, this is simply information you can look up. If you want to open multiple units, you’ll need to multiply the franchise fee with the number of units you are hoping to open. 

If you’re doing an area development agreement with the company, the minimum number of units you’ll be required to open is 3. Clearly, the company has a preference for working with people that are interested in more locations at once. As a franchisee, it provides you with the benefit that you’ll learn a specific business model really well, and that you can probably assume unit economics with relative ease as you’re scaling. 

I personally really like when franchising companies seek franchisees that are ambitious about multi-unit ownership. In comparison, a company like Chick-fil-A will only let you open one unit, and that’s it. So, whereas you’re able to make a good salary opening a Chick-fil-A location, it’s not something that scales.

Average revenue

In 2021, Crumbl opened its books and showed that the average annual revenue was $1,687,731 across 140 locations. When you take 15% of that, that’s how we came up with the $253k number also mentioned above. 

How much do employees make there? 

The salary of a Crumbl Cookie employee is considerably lower than the number the owner makes. As your skills progress and you learn the ins and outs of the business, you’ll be able to ask the owner for more money, and you may even end up owning your own unit at one point. 

From all the information I was able to gather, a typical employee at a Crumbl location ranges from $9.7 per hour to $24.65 per hour. With that said, if you’re making the higher end of that bracket, you’re looking at about $50,000 per year.
