Best Franchise Opportunities to Own in Phoenix

Dry heat. Drive-thrus. Scaling businesses. There’s a lot of stuff that’s great about Phoenix.

Phoenix is surely hot, but it spans across more than just the weather. The franchise market is hot, too, and Phoenix is one of the places that I often get asked about. Apparently, everyone’s wanting to move to Arizona

While it’s drier than Houston, another place that I’ve also written about, Phoenix is a great location for business expansion.

Phoenix is a place with a booming population and economy. It’s also a place that’s very business-friendly in a lot of different ways. It has oth retirees with money to spend and young professionals.

When you take a look at the rel estate market, it’s a lot friendlier than California or New York in terms of competitiveness and price.

With a great mix of affordability and opportunity, there’s lots to love.

However, it’s not super simple to find the right opportunity. Underneath, I’ve listed some of the best franchise opportunities to own in Phoenix. However, schedule a call when you’re ready to get serious!

Nothing Bundt Cakes

Cake is just one of those things that makes a celebration better. It’s a symbol of nostalgia that aches that sweet tooth. Nothing Bundt Cakes has a lot of things going for it, like its brand recognition and margins. That’s why Nothing Bundt Cakes made it to the top of my list of the best franchise opportunities to own in Phoenix.

Both are things that are great to look for in a franchise. Specialty desserts can be a very profitable niche if done right, and it’s much simpler to operate than a ton of restaurant concept that I get asked about.

Birthdays, graduations, and retirements. People in Phoenix commit when they celebrate, especially if it doesn’t come with another 115-degree day. Although it’s a premium brand, its prices are still affordable, finding a price point that people keep coming back for.

In addition, there are several suburban markets where this concept could also do really well. Gilbert, Chandler, or North Phoenix are places I would look into. Here, you’ll find lots of families but also community events that need Nothing Bundt Cakes cakes.

With Phoenix’ extreme weather, it’s no surprise there’s an appreciation for convenience. That is reflected in the delivery market there. For you to be successful, make sure it’s easy to get the cakes delivered, and you may even pick up orders from people that thought they were going to bake themselves.

Shopping centers, near grocery stores, or schools. Those are great locations that make it easy for a parent to pick up a cake when they’re running and doing errands as well. Are you ready to delve into Nothing Bundt Cakes’ FDD and territory rights?

Hydrate IV Bar

Okay, we are changing lanes now.

PReventive wellness and self-care is growing, and Hydrate IV Bar is one of the brands that are benefiting from this trend. You, on the other hand, could help make it popular in Phoenix!

Vitamin drips, immune boosts, and hangover cures are all part of the products you’ll be slinging. On top of that, customers will come up and enjoy the spa-like environment and won’t want to leave before they’ve easily spent several hundred dollars there.

Dehydration is key here, and Phoenix, with its weather, is sure to leave some people dehydrated. Remember those young professionals I talked about, too? Some of them have a good chunk of disposable income and like spending it on high-end self-care services.

IV therapies may not have been much of a market 20 years ago, but it’s what the modern consumer is looking for. Wellness-focused retirees and people that have gone out to party are people that will also want to go visit your location.

To be successful with a Hydrate IV Bar franchise, you’ll need to make sure you’re compliant on all fronts. However, it’s not just a matter of being compliant.

If you keep the place organized and provide that five-star experience that someone expects from a brand like Hydrate IV Bar, you can attract an extravagant clientele that will keep paying you money. However, the experience you’re creating needs to be high enough that you don’t just get people wanting to go there, but that customers start spreading awareness through word-of-mouth.

Black Bear Diner

Founded 1995
Founder Bob & Laurie Manley
Headquarters Redding, California
Locations in Phoenix Metro 5+ locations, including Glendale, Goodyear, and Chandler
Franchise Fee $55,000
Total Investment $1.1M – $2.1M
Training Program 10-week program including in-store & classroom training
Creative Way to Get the Word Out Host a “Big Bear Breakfast Bash” with free coffee & flapjacks for first responders and teachers

Black Bear Diner is a much different experience from Hydrate IV Bar, but you’re able to offer some great food and experiences here! With its woodsy, lodge-style appearance, customers coming through the door will be served comfort food and with very nice portions.

Black Bear Diner is an alternative to all the food choices that are popping up that may taste reasonable but doesn’t feel liek it offers much personality.

Phoenix is a sunny place, for sure, but a good diner experience is something people will flock to regardless of the state they’re in. It seems the whole brunch experience is very much in fashion, and Black Bear Diner is there to cash in on people’s desire to have something that tastes like it was cooked at home.

From the country-fried steak to the omelets, the menu offers something for everyone. On top of that, it offers a place to get out of the scorching sun while getting something delicious to eat. If you open a Hydrate IV Bar and a Black Bear Diner next to each other, people can even go from one location to another.

They may come for the diner food but be upsold on some IV therapy. There’s no denying that Black Bear Diner is a harder concept to run. Whenever you’re seating a group of people, your staff is inarguably going to create the atmosphere that makes customers want to come back.

DexaFit

DexaFit is another wellness brand, and one that works with Phoenix’s fitness-focused population, too. For those that truly want to take either their weight loss or fitness goals to the next level, here’s an offering that satisfies a lot of curiosity.

Whether it’s a body comp scan VO2 max, or metabolic health test, this franchisor taps into metric tracking on a different level than other businesses out there.

In all honesty, it brings the science into how to achieve the fitness goals, whereas Hydrate IV Bar is more meant to make you feel good from infusions.

Phoenix has a ton of people that aren’t shy about spending to achieve their fitness goals, and the frequency at which you see Lululemon apparently is a testament to that.

However, DexaFit also has an appealing offering to the tech bros out there.

Since it’s a business that relies heavily on explaining data to customers, you want someone on the floor who is both personable and able to convey data. That’s how you don’t just get customers interested in one service, but more.

Factors to consider

The way to be successful with franchising is by being very diligent in finding the right opportunity. That’s also why aspiring franchisees usually reach out to a seasoned franchise consultant like myself when they’re ready for the next step. (It helps avoid very costly mistakes!)

However, some factors to consider are more state-specific, whereas others are more city-specific. What’s important to consider about Phoenix is that it’s not NYC. People are willing to drive and have cars. As such, you can often be successful in appealing to a certain affluent demographic by knowing a lot of money is in Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek.

As people in Phoenix are willing to drive, you’ll need to consider how much parking needs to be available where you’re setting up shop.
